MIT is a dream born out of patriot's heart to establish an Institute to advance the newly found independent India. Experimenting with unique courses like Aerospace engineering, Automobile Engineering, Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering. Late Shri. Rajam instituted MIT to produce a class of homegrown engineers to carry out unregimented research that could empower the country. The Institute keeps up its heritage by producing finest engineers working in critical sectors of the country like Defense with outstanding Alumni database, our Institute never fails to represent the Panache of our founder.
Being the first institute to host the course of Aerospace engineering we, the students of this department are proud to be entitled as the "Flag Bearers" of Late Shri. Rajam Iyer's dream to carry out indigeneous research in this ever-burgeoning domain in India. With one UG course and three PG courses, the department holds the state-of-art facilities to cater the research needs of industries and academia. The department is privileged with alumni like Late Dr.Kalam, Dr.Sivam, etc., who add a feather to the cap of MIT's age-old legacy. Back in 1949, the vision of Shri. Rajam to empower the newly born India with national engineers is the heirloom that every MITian has inherited and the outcome is reflected through our fine engineers graduating every year.
One of the dynamic associations in the institute, the Association of Aeronautical Engineers (AAE) has carved a niche for itself by organizing weekly workshops, frequent training programs, seminars and many more. One of our notable activities is our annual technical fest "FLIGHT" that impacts engineers from all over the country. Exposing students & enthusiasts to exciting opportunities in this sophisticated field of Aerospace is the key objective of AAE.
